On Tuesday, July 1, the penalties charged to vehicle owners who habitually drop liability insurance coverage increased.
The new law, passed by the General Assembly in 2007, affects vehicle owners who have numerous insurance lapses within a three-year period. This is the first change in the insurance lapse penalty of $50 since 1957.

The North Carolina Reinsurance Facility has posted a revision of forms NCRF-30 Statement of Eligibility for Cession of Higher Coverage Limits (for Commercial Auto) and NCRF-31 Certification of Higher Coverage Limits. These forms are required for use with Cessions effective on or after April 1, 2008. Please discard any previous editions of these forms and begin using the revised forms immediately.
