Technology Contributing Factor for Teens Waiting to Drive

Twenty, thirty, forty years ago, teenagers counted down the days until they could obtain their drivers’ licenses and hit the open road. Today, with the availability of mass transit, the cost of purchasing and insuring an auto for an inexperienced driver, a lack of driver’s ed classes in high schools and the advent of social media has made this rite of passage less pressing for teens, and for some altogether unnecessary. It seems that many young adults are leaving the chauffeur responsibilities to their parents and focusing on other pursuits, according to the Washington Post
